Roberts Rolls Out New Waiver Policy for Associate Degree Holders for Fall 2025
In a move to streamline the transfer process and boost enrollment, Roberts Wesleyan University announces a new initiative, effective Apr. 23, 2025, that will waive general education requirements for traditional undergraduate students with associate degrees beginning Fall 2025.
The policy will exempt transfer students who hold associate degrees from regionally accredited institutions from completing general education courses at Roberts, except Bible requirements and Senior Seminar. This change comes as national data shows transfer enrollment increasing by 4.4% this year, marking an eight percent rise since 2020.
"Transfer pathways are essential for prospective students, and we are excited to start the Fall 2025 semester with a new transfer process that is easier and saves prospective students time academically and personally. This initiative results from department collaboration to support transfer students throughout their academic experience at Roberts," said a university enrollment representative.
Under the new policy, students with associate degrees will be granted junior-level standing with 60 credits. While time to degree completion may vary based on specific major requirements and prior coursework, the initiative aims to make Roberts more competitive while reducing cost and time to graduation for transfer students.
The policy change has multiple benefits, including improved recruitment competitiveness, increased affordability, and reinforced partnerships with area community colleges
The policy is scheduled to take effect for the Fall 2025 semester.
