Athletics Senior Woman Administrator

Profile

Femi Alao was hired as Assistant Director of Athletics at Roberts Wesleyan University in 2019 and has rapidly risen to her current role of Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator.

As Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator, Alao collaborates with the Executive Director of Athletics on all aspects of the department, including strategic planning, athletic success programs and academic initiatives.

She also serves as the sport administrator for 12 sports and represents Roberts at NCAA and East Coast Conference meetings focusing on policy changes, inclusion and diversity. Alao also helps coordinate fund-raising and community relations efforts, oversees and updates the Athletics Department Policies and Procedures Manual, Coaches Handbook, and Student-Athlete Handbook and serves as liaison to Student Life.

Alao has played a key role in Roberts being recognized with the Division II Award of Excellence three times (2021, 2024, 2025) and winning the ECC Commissioner’s Cup in 2024. Roberts is the only Division II Institution to win the Award of Excellence more than once.

Alao also serves the East Coast Conference and NCAA in several capacities, including Division II Management Council Representative, NCAA Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee Vice Chair, NCAA Social Justice Working Group, ECC Senior Woman Administrators Conference Chair, ECC Senior Women’s Administrators Chair, ECC Women’s Soccer Chair and the ECC Diversity and Inclusion Sub Committee.

She has also dedicated her time to the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) Rising Stars and Women Leaders in College Sports Membership and Mentoring committees.

While at Roberts, Alao has also held the titles of Senior Woman Administrator and Assistant Director of Athletics, Title IX Assistant/Liaison and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Advisor.

Alao has earned several certificates in leadership, inclusion, mentoring and fund-raising. She was recognized as a Forty Under 40 Honoree by the Rochester Business Journal in 2024 and received the 2024 Zeta Phi Beta, Theta Alpha Chapter: When Zeta Calls Service Award.

Alao is a member of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAAD), The Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), The Division II Athletics Directors Association, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, Women’s Leaders in Sports and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated.

Prior to coming to Roberts, Alao served as an educator, coach, and athletic director in Denver, where she expanded opportunities for student participation in interscholastic athletics and activities.

Alao earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a minor in Business from Grambling State University and holds a Master of Arts in Sport Administration and a Master of Arts in Education, Educational Administration and Supervision from Ball State University.

A former Division I student-athlete, Alao played three seasons of varsity soccer at Grambling and one at Mississippi State.
