Profile
With more than 30 years in higher education and a deep-rooted connection to Roberts Wesleyan University, Marna Distaffen leads with quiet strength and a deep commitment to mission. A two-time alumna with a B.S. in Math Education and an M.S. in Mathematics Teacher Education, Marna has served in multiple advancement roles across her decades of service. She currently serves as Director of Advancement Services, helping to build and sustain the philanthropic relationships that fuel student scholarships, campus growth, and community impact.
Marna’s background in fundraising, prospect research, volunteer management, and data systems (including Raiser’s Edge) makes her a cornerstone of the Advancement team. Whether she’s preparing strategic reports, stewarding donors, or supporting events like the annual scholarship golf tournament, her focus is always on mission, relationships, and long-term sustainability.
What sets her apart? A rare blend of institutional memory and forward-thinking energy. She’s worked alongside four university presidents, helped shepherd countless giving initiatives, and continues to approach each day with a learner’s mindset.
She’s known for her reliability, attention to detail, and her Psalm 46:10 approach to leadership: Be still and know that I am God.
