Dara Delgado

Adjunct Professor of Religion & Philosophy

Through trusting student-teacher relationships and safe learning-centered classrooms, I see myself as partnering with my students as they develop into independent scholars living in a globalized world.

Dara Delgado

Profile

Dr. Dara Delgado serves as Assistant Professor of Religious Studies–Christianity at Allegheny College and was awarded the prestigious AAUW American Dissertation Fellowship for 2018–2019. Her scholarly interests center on the history and theology of American Pentecostalism, with a particular focus on how race, gender, and popular culture intersect within American Christianity in the modern era. These themes converge in her dissertation, "Life, Liberty, and the Practicality of Holiness: A Social Historical Examination of the Life and Work of Ida Bell Robinson."

As a self-identified teacher-scholar, Dr. Delgado is committed to integrating her research into her pedagogical practice. She is deeply invested in creating student-centered learning environments that promote rigorous inquiry, critical thinking, and global awareness. Her approach emphasizes building trusting relationships in the classroom and engaging students in respectful and meaningful dialogue around faith, history, and culture.

Previously, Dr. Delgado taught undergraduate students in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Dayton. Outside of teaching, she is actively involved in her local church and enjoys the arts, spending time with loved ones, and attending live performances.

Prof. Delgado is amazing. She made her class very enjoyable with lots of group work and other activities.
