Roberts Wesleyan University invites an exceptional and dynamic choral conductor and educator to serve as Director of Choral Activities within the Department of Music. The Music Department is on our park-like campus in Rochester, New York, providing the program with the advantages of a suburban setting within a vibrant metropolitan area.This is a full-time position beginning August 18, 2025, designed for a passionate musician-educator eager to advance the University’s mission of integrating faith and learning through musical excellence, community engagement, and student mentorship.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct, oversee, and maintain artistic excellence for all aspects of the University’s choral ensembles.
- Teach courses in choral conducting, choral literature, and other areas aligned with departmental needs and candidate expertise.
- Recruit and retain talented student musicians through active engagement with regional music educators, festivals, and prospective students.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff across the Music Program to shape and implement a vibrant and inclusive vision for choral music.
- Contribute to student advisement, departmental service, and University-wide initiatives that support spiritual development and liberal arts learning.
- Demonstrate ongoing professional activity and creative output at regional and national levels.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master of Music (MM) in Choral Conducting or related field.
- Evidence of successful choral conducting and teaching experience at the secondary or collegiate level.
- Strong keyboard skills, rehearsal technique, and knowledge of diverse choral repertoire.
- Ability to articulate and embody the integration of Christian faith and academic discipline in teaching and performance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Choral Conducting or related field.
- Secondary music education experience.
- Record of innovative programming, community outreach, and artistic leadership.
- Experience mentoring students from a variety of cultural and musical backgrounds.
