Meet Your Professor

"One of my favorite quotes is, “Literacy is the conduit through which we understand and enact our freedoms” (Garcia & Mirra, 2021). For experienced teachers, deepening literacy expertise is an act of advocacy.

This post-master’s, advanced certificate program in literacy empowers teachers with the knowledge and credentials to lead school-wide literacy programs. It prepares teachers to serve as literacy interventionists, specialists, or coaches.

If remaining in the classroom, it will strengthen teachers’ capacities to use evidence-based instructional approaches to support all readers and writers, preparing them to fully participate in a democratic society."

-Dr. Elizabeth Stevens, Director of Literacy M.Ed. & Professor of Education
